What is the best advice you ever received? Why? And did you follow it? (University of Pennsylvania)
If I follow all the advices I receive, I would go insane. The reason being I have a huge family, and I am close to almost all of them. “Trust me I am your uncle, do every extra-curricular activity in your school,” or “Just do what you have fun doing.” On top of that I have a lot of friends who constantly bombard me with good advice. Out of the millions of advice I got, the best one would be “Live life and love it.”
My father, who passed away when I was eight years old, gave this advice to me. It is the best advice because it emphasizes the fact that life does not come twice. What makes this so important to me is that, my father not only gave me the advice, but also lived it out. When he had a chance to do something out of the ordinary, he took it without a second thought. That is exactly how I try to and want to live. I try to live life in such a way that I have no regrets. I try my best to “Live life,” loving it becomes easy after that. I cannot follow this advice to the fullest, yet, because I am held back by fear at times; fear of getting hurt, or just the fear of doing something new. Fear is what I am slowly overcoming by learning from my day-to-day experiences.
Living like this helps me appreciate the smallest things, such as waking up to live another day. Having one more day to learn about “Living life and loving it.” That is by far the best advice I ever received. Do I follow it? I try my best.
